No conflict is ever the same. There are no quick fixes, easy solutions, blueprints or standard roadmaps. Finding ways out of conflict is hard work, which takes long term commitment. And conflict doesn’t end with signatures under agreements. Peace is not static. It’s not a noun, but a verb. It needs to be confirmed and reconfirmed over and over again. It’s therefore vital that people themselves have the capacity to do peace, otherwise renewed conflict is just around the corner. Peace Academy empowers people to do peace.
Peace Academy works with a toolbox. Which tools will be used where and when, depends on context and situation. The desire to have peace, to have no disruptive conflicts, is universal, but what makes peace, is situational. The tools that Peace Academy uses are conflict analyses, network analyses, process design, strategy consultancy, workshops, negotiation and mediation support, training in negotiations, mediation and leadership, project advisory, tension management, change management, individual coaching and institutional capacity building. Peace Academy works in a modular way, making different combinations of tools per intervention.
Peace Academy is a support organization. We offer our services directly, or through and to partners. Peace Academy does not have its own field presence, but works with respected peacebuilding and mediation organizations as well as advisory companies. Peace Academy has an extensive network of experts and practitioners with whom we work as and when needed.
