My name is Wilbur Perlot and I’m the founder of Peace Academy. In the past fifteen years I have been mostly focused on (international) negotiations, mediation and processes to exit conflict. I have worked as an adviser, mediator, consultant, researcher, facilitator, trainer and coach for government, business, academia and think tanks. I like creating and starting new work and have seen my pioneering result in successful new concepts and projects. I enjoy business development and acquisition as well as growing and nurturing teams to deliver results. I am driven to understand why people do what they do and how they might be moved to do it differently, if that would enable positive change for them and their environment.
I’m a specialist in finding solutions and cooperation in difficult and politically sensitive environments. I have worked on many types of negotiation (diplomatic negotiations, difficult negotiations, peace negotiations, humanitarian negotiations, public-private negotiations and EU negotiations) and mediation processes. I have facilitated hundreds of training sessions, workshops, conferences, planning sessions, debates, etc. I have worked with senior military staff, diplomats (junior, mid-career and senior), police officers, civil servants, private sector, humanitarian aid workers, mediators, (armed) groups in conflicts, political leaders, women groups, youth groups from more than 100 countries. I have delivered interventions in 40+ countries.
I live in The Hague with my wife and children, who regularly feature in anecdotes in my workshops. Together we often go to the beach, where I also like to walk in the morning. The preferred mode of transport is cycling. I enjoy reading – fantasy and non-fiction, which combined make a source of inspiration for simulations. I like to listen to music – I have been a big Prince fan since I was 12, which introduced me to Funk music, where I occasionally DJ in. I watch television and movies, taking a deep dive into anything Marvel together with my children. I keep up-to-date with news and developments and have engaging discussions with my children. I hope that when they are my age, the daily news will look different than today. For now – there is Peace to be done – by us.

Elise Webster is an Advanced Master’s student in International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University, where she focuses on conflict resolution and negotiation. Her academic work centers on power imbalances in negotiation, and she is currently writing her thesis on adaptive strategies that empower marginalized negotiators—particularly women—with practical tools and skills.
Outside of her studies, Elise has gained experience across advocacy, nonprofit work, and international institutions. She has interned with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, supported legal empowerment initiatives with the Women’s Justice Initiative in Guatemala, and worked with Mediators Beyond Borders International to highlight mediators’ work around globe. Currently, Elise is also a teaching assistant for university-level courses on peace and war, facilitating student engagement with conflict intervention and peacebuilding. Fluent in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, (and working on Dutch), Elise is committed to building an internationally oriented career. She aims to translate her academic work into practical insights, and equitable approaches to conflict resolution.
